Abstract

The educational reforms of the 90 across Latin America were enrolled in the suggestions and recommendations of international policies; in the case of the "democratization of school life", this influence is not unusual when one considers that in the last two decades of the twentieth century the ideal of democracy was an essential reference. In the political and cultural lived Colombia from the 90's, marked by the emergence of changes in constitutional matters, education was committed to the education of citizens and building a democratic political culture. From there the student-teacher relationships have been transformed to make way for the flattening and the exercise of power by the students, which has been on edge institutions. Outbreaks of violence and crime in school are generated and confrontations and challenges to the authority show that it is in decline, although there are rules and sanctions as mechanisms of control, not as effective as they once were.
