Abstract

Virtual education is an approach that has grown in popularity over the last few years because it provides individuals with an opportunity to study when their work schedules, physical limitations, or location prevent them from attending an academic institution.

The University of Boyacá is committed to developing this form of education and has therefore defined corporate policies through concrete actions that have allowed the consolidation of an office that leads, supports, and implements programs to motivate students and teachers to use virtual education.

The experience presented in this paper gives an overview of the developments in virtual education that have taken place at the University of Boyacá since 2005. This paper presents, in a comprehensive manner, the process of creating a virtual module and the statistical results obtained from the application of virtual education to complement the traditional approach.
