"Home": A tool in education for a sustainable future

"Home" is a film by Yann Arthus-Bertrand released on June 5 2009, which is an authentic collection of stunning images. The aim of it is awareness of resource shortages, environmental problems and climate change that causes uncontrolled human activity. It's a movie for free distribution that may be viewed on youtube in full in its Spanish version features the voice of Salma Hayek.
This manuscript describes the learning experience using "Home". The aim was focused, among other things, that the students became aware of the many interrelationships and environmental aspects have a common origin in the natural history of the planet. A first-year students in Grades in Environmental Science and Chemistry were entrusted with the viewing of "Home" and answer a series of questions: one dealing with the emotions felt when watching the film, other notions relating to scientific and other for reflection on various terms used in the film. All had limited the number of words to buil d the capacity of synthesis. Although "Home" has a marked environmental character, cannot distinguish whether the student studies Environmental Science or Chemistry degree. It notes that "Home" is a tool that contributes to the formation of citizens aware of the global problems facing humanity.
