Abstract

In the present research was analyzed whether the training through external practices at the Technical University of Ambato (Republic of Ecuador) enables to futures graduates to meet as the knowledge and experience gained through community service activities contributes to holistic training young students and problem solving context. As well as it exist impact of the educational model of the Technical University of Ambato in society. The research was conducted in the school of Humanities and education, health sciences, jurisprudence and social sciences. Started as a qualitative research methodology, he inquires about the expectations of students, teachers and beneficiaries, competences developed, educational offer, as well as the difficulties encountered in the current program of external practices of the Technical University of Ambato; defining in this way, the cognitive, affective, social and moral skills necessary in the 21st century for the training of managers for the change that assume for the purpose of the social value of knowledge, participation in actions of solidarity and service, strengthening that education has a humanistic purpose. The results obtained in the research evidenced the need for the implementation of the methodology service-learning to incorporate social competence in training for the development of the person and future professional, to have identified areas for improvement in the current proposal of the Technical University of Ambato for the external practices linked to the social context.
