Abstract

The interest on peace education has grown in contexts where the values associated with it and human rights are not being respected. In Europe, this can be associated with the economic crisis that many countries suffer nowadays. This article intends to be a contribution to active University education based on social competences and on the principles of peace education. In this sense, this article offers a proposal of activities that contribute to highlight the principles and values proposed by peace education. This paper shows the way of developing oral activities that contribute to peace education in two BA subjects at the University of Alicante, English Language III and General Linguistic I. As a result of its implementations, it will be pointed out that this methodology promotes the acquisition of students’ social competences, such as, conflict solving, active listening and cooperation.
