The Ibero-american Space of Knowledge (eic) has gone from being an ambitious project to become a reality that reflects the tremendous interest of ibero-american countries to improve their educational systems and ensure that their research and innovation capacities should acquire a greater weight in the world. In such space, in the last few years there have been launched several programs and actions, although progress is needed to obtain a greater level of compliance with the desired objectives. In this article we present some reflections on the future of the eic taking into account the main axels, wich under our view, should structure the process of convergence and what is happening in other regions, specifically in the experience of the European Higher Education Area (ehea).From these observations, we performed a comparative analysis from a critical point of view of the situation in both spaces of educational integration.
