Abstract

The following essay, derived from the work of the doctoral thesis named: "Study of the explicit and underlying competencies in teaching practices promoted in the Faculty of Social Sciences at UNA", is an approach to the discursive myths handled by the university professors and the realities that accompanies the weak development of training competent citizenship. In addition, it exposes the need to transform the teaching and learning processes taking place in higher education to one conceived from an ethical dimension, as the basis for an autonomous knowledge development.
