In the current societies, characterized by diversity and mobility, and undergoing a permanent transformation process, the school is called upon to provide more flexible and differentiated responses to its students. To this end, schools must adopt, from early childhood onwards, new curricular practices that contradict the former logic of homogeneity and recognize diversity both as a matrix of the current societies and as a learning opportunity. Based on an awakening to languages project developed with pre‑primary aged children, this paper presents a set of proposals that can guide the construction of curricula for diversity in early childhood education and support the creation of schools that are simultaneously inclusive and open to the community.
