Los Colegios del Mundo del IB en São Paulo, Lisboa y Maputo: crecimiento y diversificación del campo

El artículo analiza la expansión reciente de las escuelas internacionales, con enfoque en los establecimientos de enseñanza que providencian currículos y exámenes del International Baccalaureate® (IB), a partir de tres ejes de estudio que se interceptan. Primero, se busca mapear la investigación producida sobre este movimiento, a nivel internacional. Segundo, se discute la evolución del número de escuelas y de estudiantes en el mundo, con particular atención a las tendencias observadas en los países lusófonos e iberoamericanos. Tercero, se presentan resultados de un análisis documental sobre las escuelas IB en regiones de São Paulo, Lisboa y Maputo, centrada en sus misiones y visiones institucionales. Además de una menor expresión, en comparación a los países hispanohablantes, se concluye que el crecimiento de las escuelas IB en las metrópolis de lengua oficial portuguesa ha sido alimentado tanto por la conversión del modelo de escuelas internacionales tradicionales, como por la emergencia de proyectos empresariales especializados en este tipo de escuelas. La narrativa de la excelencia escolar y de la formación de líderes globales se ha vuelto hegemónica. Existen semejanzas, pero también diferencias entre las escuelas IB en estas tres ciudades, las cuales relacionamos con sus respectivos contextos.
