School Management for the Improvement of Learning (GEMA in Spanish) is a program specifically designed to help to improve student learning by strengthening the leadership and management of the school director. It describes the execution of the management function through focusing on learning, the strength of the leadership and strategic management. Its implementation combines face-to-face meetings with specialists, remote sessions through a virtual platform and an information system that allows the tracking of the basic trajectory of students and the early warning of risk cases at school. Management has been modelled to facilitate their replication and the evaluation of the implementation is carried out with the Kirkpatrick scheme. It has been implemented in primary and secondary schools in three provinces of Argentina since 2012, reaching 627 schools located in areas of economic disadvantage and cultural diversity. The directors who have participated in the program apply the proposed GEMA in their schools and have institutionalized the obtained improvements.
