Oportunidades educacionais e a pandemia da COVID-19 na América Latina

Resumo

O artigo discute o impacto educacional da COVID-19 na América Latina, inserindo o estudo no contexto das políticas educacionais avançadas durante as últimas décadas, e seus efeitos no aumento das oportunidades educacionais.
O texto argumenta que a pandemia inicia a quinta onda de transformação dos sistemas educacionais na América Latina, aumentando as lacunas nas oportunidades educacionais entre alunos de diferentes classes sociais e nacionalidades e, assim, aumentando também a necessidade de maior relevância dos sistemas educacionais para enfrentar os desafios sociais, políticos e econômicos da região, o que, por sua vez, a pandemia complicou.
Com base na revisão de estudos sobre o tema, examina-se o impacto educacional da pandemia, através de seus efeitos sanitários e econômicos, provocando um aumento das condições de pobreza; assim como através da suspensão das aulas presenciais e da criação de modalidades de aprendizagem remota, resultando em eficácia variável e, em particular, eficácia limitada para manter as oportunidades de aprendizagem para os estudantes de baixa renda

Biografia Autor

Fernando Reimers, Universidad de Harvard, EE.UU.

Profesor de Práctica de la Educación Internacional de la Fundación Ford y director de la Iniciativa de Innovación en Educación Global y del Programa de Maestría en Políticas de Educación Internacional de la Universidad de Harvard. Experto en el campo de la educación global, la investigación y la enseñanza de enfoque en la comprensión de cómo educar a los niños y jóvenes para que puedan prosperar en el 21 st siglo, temas sobre los que ha escrito y coordinado cuarenta libros y más de cien artículos científicos y capitulos. Es miembro de la comisión de alto nivel de la UNESCO sobre el futuro de la educación y del Consejo Asesor Educativo de la Organización de Estados Iberoamericanos.
